This weekend the Big Island marks the start of the 55th Annual Merrie Monarch Festival which runs April 1-7 in the Hilo area.They have shows an arts fair and a parade (amongst other things) open to the public while the big event is the 3-day long Hula competition. It’s quiet a fun show!

The festival itself was started and continues as a celebration of Hawaiian Culture!
