Keahou at Night

Fall is a great time to visit Kona!

While we generally believe Kona is great year round there’s a specialness about Fall, a calmness, that makes it prime time for visiting. The weather is good. The summer crowds have died down and there’s a certain peace to the time that you can find best in Fall.

But there’s still plenty to do!

Here are some of the best things to do on your Fall trip!

Visit the local Parks and Hiking Trails

The weather makes this perfect timing! And you can basically find a park or trail that can conform to anyone’s needs some solid picks include:

*Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park

*Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area

It’s also a good time to take the drive out to Hawaii Volcano National Park where we do have the most active volcano on Earth (Kilauea)!

Hit the water for some ocean based activities and tours.

Seems like summer would be best for this but actually the weather and smaller crowds makes Fall prime time for this sort of thing. Just remember to stay safe and follow any posted rules and signs to protect the wildlife natural habitats as well as yourself.

Visit a Coffee Farm: it’s around Harvest this time of year so you can see everything in action.

(Kona also boasts a ton of great Farmer’s Markets throughout the week all year long but Fall does bring lovely in season options to chose from and do some home cooking to have with your coffee!)

Kona Coffee Cultural Festival happens November 6-15 and is an incredible event for coffee lovers especially but there is definitely something to do for everyone. You can even take barista or coffee art classes! (Get link)

Mauna Kea Summit for some star gazing. It’s a beautiful place any time of year but Fall brings especially nice views although you do need to plan for different weather up there!

Or you can just keep the chill vibe going and hang out around downtown Kona enjoying the food and peaceful nature of the season.
