Just a heads up that tickets for a great event are about to go on sale!The Big Island Chocolate Festival will be returning next year on April 26-27. The event takes place at the Westin Hapuna Beach Resort. Tickets go on sale this November 23rd… not only is it fun but its a great gift idea for all the Island Chocolate Lovers.
Even better proceeds from the event are donated to local charities. The festival is put on by the Kona Cacao Association & you can find more information on their website.

Make sure your vehicles have gas.
Keep your cellphones charged & with you.
If evacuating follow the designated routes.
Make sure you leave a note or someone knows where you plan to go in the situation.
Wear proper clothes and footwear in an emergency situation.
Never drive through a flooded area or roadway. (Turn around.)
Secure your home. Make sure electrical equipment is shut-off and unplugged. If necessary shut off water and gas.
Check on your neighbors to make sure everyone gets out.

Below are some tips of what to bring extra of on your Kona Vacation- oh, you can get everything on island but you’ll be having so much fun you probably won’t want to stop!A sense of adventure
You can do anything on the Island. Visit mantas, hike to a waterfall, explore a coffee ranch, spend your days on the beach or learn to make the perfect margarita and enjoy sunset on sunset (and sunrise) on the lanai!
Sunscreen
Obviously sunscreen is a pretty easy find on the island but we at Kona Rentals take skincare very seriously so if you have a favorite stock up and make sure you’re wearing it!
Hats & Head Covers
This goes along with the sunscreen obviously.
Extra Shoes
Kona provides so many fun opportunities for adventure your trip can be whatever you make it out to be. Flip-flops, shoes for hiking, shoes for going out. The last thing you want is sore feet!
Back-up Chargers/ Memory Cards
Again this is something you can easily find on the island but I’ve always found it’s best to have an extra or two in my travel bag. After all you don’t want to be watching the sun come up and see a whale only to miss the perfect shot because your battery is dead?
